Try to be the best in what you do

“Okay, listen to me—read-only two paragraphs. Don’t rush into reading the whole chapter at once if you’re not getting it. Read less, but understand completely. Otherwise, you’ll create a pile of not understanding topics.”, my mother said.

“It’s okay if you can’t answer all the questions. Make sure whatever you’re attending, you’re attending with your best.” Dad added.

It was one of my parents’ conversations with me when I was in school and was rushing to read and complete the syllabus before the exam.

This suggestion is valid even today. We always have a lot of work to do, and we pile up many things at once. Then we rush into completing all pending work and end up having chaos in everything.

A few years ago, I faced this in my life. At that time I thought of applying my childhood suggestion to my current scenarios.

I realized I can give better results whenever I do less but try to do it better way.

It takes minimal effort to be the best.

We need to understand that doing less with excellent efficiency and effectiveness matters more than doing a lot.

There’s a Portuguese proverb:

“Think of many things. Do one.”

When we rush into doing things, we lose our focus most of the time. We somehow manage to accomplish those tasks, but we can’t benefit from them. We complete those tasks for the sake of doing it.

We often end up doing the same task repeatedly to give better results. In both cases, we waste our time and energy.

If we understand the principle of doing less and giving better results, we will be more satisfied. How?

Because when we don’t stress ourselves to do something in a hurry, then we do that with better energy, and we do it naturally.

When we do less, we can clearly focus on what we are doing. We involve ourselves in better manners and find ourselves enjoying doing it. We can optimize ourselves to provide excellent quality work and find ourselves at peace while doing it.

Just a little effort without a rush may turn out great for us.

It doesn’t matter the quantity of work you’re doing. Instead, it is the quality of work that matters the most. As, in the long run, people remember you from that quality.

Even if we look overall, we think it is a small thing, but it is crucial for society. Suppose we all become a society that focuses more on quality than quantity. In that case, ultimately, the results will be the best for mankind.

So, let’s be critical in thinking about what we are doing, how we are doing and find ways to accomplish whatever we are doing with great efficiency and effectiveness.
