Let’s understand the Joy of Giving

“Why should I need to be the first? I find people don’t help me many times when I need them”, I asked my grandfather.

“I have been seeing you since childhood; you’re wholeheartedly working for society; what kept you going?” I asked him further.

“Everyone who thinks this way forgets one rule, we must not take anything without giving in return. Do you remember your grandmother and now your mother also follows this? They never return a tiffin or box we have received from neighbors or other relatives without giving something from our home. It should be the same everywhere. Don’t be afraid of helping others first, and don’t keep expectations of getting something in return immediately. You’ll get returns for your deeds.” Grandfather said.

This conversation cleared my attitude towards helping others in their need without them even asking you.

“Be a reflection of what you’d like to receive. If you want love, give love. If you want the truth, be truthful. If you want respect, give respect. What you give out will return to you.”

Kristen Butler

There’s joy in giving. As a part of society, we must understand that giving improves our self-esteem and brings out the happiness in our minds.

We often forget that giving is not always an expensive thing. A small act of giving attention to someone who is in need, giving a word of hope to someone who is struggling, becoming a reason for someone’s smile, or an act of caring with compassion can give you the joy of giving.

It is a joy that can never be taken away from you, from anybody.

Recently, my friend and I went to eat from a roadside shop. Often the shop which carries lighting, that day, unfortunately, stopped working, and his food vehicle went unnoticed by people walking through the road. While my friend found out about the place, we ordered what we wanted, and we waited.

One young boy came to this place and asked him what had happened to him today? Why low lights? He said, “it stopped working, and I can’t even go and get it repaired. It is costing me a lot today”. That guy immediately offered him help saying, “brother, I’m free today, let me do that for you.” My friend and I were amazed by this act of that young boy.

We need more such young boys to see this society as beautiful!!! My dear friends, let’s not forget to give what you receive in return in any possible way and give without expectation. Let’s build a beautiful society together.
